Prototype 2!!! (week 4)
The Progress
Designed it to be more stable as compared to our first prototype as we made the 2 hulls at the bottom slightly wider.
With specified calculations, we changed the platform and the hull to be wider and more vertically inclined. We also did not add wooden sticks to secure the platform and the hull together as before.
Changing the design of the support of the cans by using ice-creams sticks, wooden sticks and styrofoam by using hot glue gun to glue them together that are more secured.
Not only did we change the design of the boat, we even change the design of the “cans holder”. We decided to place the cans in such a way that the top and bottom of the cans are facing either the left of the right side of the boat. In order to further secure the cans, we also added one chopsticks on both sides such that the cans will not be able to slide out when the boat is tilting to one side in water.
Final view of our prototype which looks more stable than before and we think that after adding the motor, it will float and move smoothly.
Finishing off, we added a protractor at the back of the boat to allow us to be able to find the maximum angle of which the boat will be able to tilt before capsizing when adding weights to one side of the boat.
Conclusion
The prototype will be tested in class tomorrow when we are going to do the buoyancy test in a tub of water!
