Reeling Supports!
How it works?
As shown at the centre bottom in the picture above, the reeling supports are used to support the wires from the drill motors.
The purpose of the the reeling support is to make sure the drill is lowered at the correct position as without the reeling support, the drill will be misplaced along the edges of the vessel. The other purpose of it is also for the wires to go into the sea in an orderly manner so that it will not be very messy.
How was it made?
We used used long metal plates and cut them into smaller pieces.
We then formed an L shape support and they are secured using nut and bolts.
We used a metal rod where our 3D printed wheel will run on.
The forth picture shows 1 set of the parts needed to complete 1 reel support
The last picture shows the completed reel support, it will be secured to the acrylic base of the vessel by a metal L bracket secured tightly with a wood screw so that the styrofoam will not loosen overtime.
